Dance Mogul Magazine Exclusive Interview
Dance Mogul: How long have you been dancing?
IGLIDE: Well I haven’t really been dancing that long. When I was 13 I took modern jazz for a little over half a year. Michael Jackson was, of course, my inspiration during that time but then I quit dancing until about 7 years ago.
Dance Mogul: Who were your inspiration coming up in dance and in life?
IGLIDE: My inspiration was the people around me, Marquese Scott and Brian Gaynor. The 3 of us formed the crew Remote Kontrol.
Dance Mogul: When did you decide to be a professional?
IGLIDE: I decided to be a professional when my crew Remote Kontrol was formed.
Dance Mogul: What have been some of your memorable moments so far?
IGLIDE: Most memorable moments were the crazy road trips we would go on. Also when we started the crew Dragon House a whole lot of epic memories. Too many to really reflect on. Really this whole experience so far as a dancer I look at as one big chapter in my life.
Dance Mogul: What advice would you have for the next generation?
IGLIDE: For the next generation, be yourselves and don’t let anyone tell you that your dancing wrong. Nobody owns dance. Also, don’t get caught up in history. Learn what you can but focus on becoming as free as possible within whatever dance you do. “Style” creates rules. That’s why I consider myself a freestyler. Let others looking in worry about labels while you just focus on craft.
Dance Mogul: What guidance would you like you to see from the older generation of dancers?
IGLIDE: I’d like to see more dancers guide youth versus trying to mold them to what their idea of good is. There are no good or bad dancers. In, the end, it’s all an opinion. Even if you have a million people with the same opinion, an opinion is not a fact.
Dance Mogul: Is there anyone you would like to thank?
IGLIDE: I’d like to thank my family, friends, my amazing girlfriend, all my followers, and supporters. I also want to thank all the dancers that came before me, for opening doors and paving ways for the next generations to benefit from. I especially want to thank Marquese Scott for freeing me from the chains of life, I was tangled in when we met. He and I were really the beginning of where we are now. Before Dragon House, before Remote Kontrol, it was NonStop and iGlide….
