    BRANDING YOUR PURPOSE

DANCER SPOTLIGHT PHOTO BY: CASSANDRA PLAVOUKOS

Dear Readers: It is with great pride and honor that we bring to you the latest edition of Dance Mogul Magazine featuring Jeremy Copeland. In this issue, you will find articles on Branding, and individual success stories from the dancers. We will continue to respond to your request for empowerment as it pertains to dance and dance culture. It is our desire to help you prepare for your journey into the dance industry and help bring awareness to the importance of entrepreneurship.

As a new artist/company, be assured you can deliver a great product, enhance your career and reap great financial rewards—even if you’re unable to afford high-powered marketeers to develop your brand. There are simple ways to begin once you understand the concept of branding. First though, you must know what you have to offer and to whose benefit—and what personal price/sacrifice will you pay to deliver on your promise/work. Decide how you want to be consistently perceived and by what specific segment of the population. Decide what words you would like them to use to describe you. Decide what promises you can make and keep consistently so that your public trusts you to deliver what you promise. In this age of technology and information sharing---nothing can stop you from branding yourself perfectly, but YOU.

Dear Readers: It is with great pride and honor that we bring to you the latest edition of Dance Mogul Magazine featuring Earl Wright. In this issue, you will find articles on reputation, bullying, and individual success stories from the dancers. We will continue to respond to your request for empowerment as it pertains to dance and dance culture. It is our desire to help you prepare for your journey into the dance industry and help bring awareness to the importance of entrepreneurship.

As your desire for success grows, you will find that you are challenged with making your dreams turn into reality. Our dreams are an innate desire to live a life that is fulfilling both physically and spiritually. As dancers we are tasked with the challenge of translating our spiritual thoughts and movements into a language we know as dance. The dynamics of that process keeps us rooted to the universe, in that we allow ourselves to be vessels of encouragement. Such a calling is a gift and blessing that should never be taken lightly. We should try our best to keep a good reputation with our family, friends and the industry that we desire to work in. The more you are able to move from the physical to the spiritual, you will find that your dancing will have a stronger impact on those that experience your performance. And as a result, your reputation of being an impactful performer will grow. As your reputation grows, it is important to stay humble and reminded of your Authentic Self.

Dear Readers:It is with great pride and honor that we bring to you the latest edition of Dance Mogul Magazine. This issue features Jean Lloret, also known as B-Boy Bebo. In our exclusive interview with Jean, he shares his rich dance history with our readers, and how he hopes to help inspire up-and-coming dancers all over the world.

The issue also speaks to the importance of celebrating culture and community, and how when properly used can boost community esteem and inspire our younger generation. As we look to provide inspiration for the youth, it goes without saying that we also honor those who came before us and helped to pave the way for us to do the things we are able to do today.

April 15th was chosen as our release date in celebration of the world famous actor Sidney Poitier being the first African American to win an Academy Award for Best Actor, on April 15, 1964, for his role in Lilies of the Field. This was 50 years ago, at a time when African Americans were barely seen on the big screen. Mr. Poitier has left an honorable legacy; one that's filled with dignity and respect, a legacy rich in the arts, and a legacy that makes us proud. For this reason and more, we celebrate him and thank him.

DANCE MOGUL MAGAZINE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW ABOUT A BALLERINA'S TALE

“A BALLERINA’S TALE” was brought to the attention of Dance Mogul Magazine and we immediately knew that our readers had to know about this film and its purpose. The film is a feature documentary on African-American ballet dancer Misty Copeland. Dance Mogul Magazine had the opportunity to catch up with the film’s director and producer ”Nelson George” for a quick Q&A about the inspiration behind the film. We encourage everyone to lend their support in helping properly document history and be a part of it

Dance Mogul: What inspired you to document dance and why the style of ballet/pointe?

Nelson George: I had very little interest in ballet and had never attended one until I met Misty at a dinner party in spring 2012. I knew she had danced with Prince and had seen some press about her. I sat next to her and was impressed with her poise and her passion for ballet. She was preparing to do the Firebird at the Met and through her manager Gilda Squire, I was able to buy a ticket. It was a great experience.
